posted on 6 MayBangalore project security: reality vs brochure?
Security in Bangalore projects is often just a show for brochures. I work in real estate but buying for myself is a different game, yaar. I've been looking at Prestige City and others, and the visitor management systems look fancy on paper. But how effective are they really? My concern is actual guard quality and how strict the entry/exit is for delivery guys, maids, etc. Is the CCTV coverage properly monitored 24/7 or just for show? I saw some projects where the security guys just wave everyone in. Matlab, what's the point? Really need to know the ground reality from residents. Is it a genuine home feel or just a gated community with lax security? Any experiences, especially with Prestige City, would be super helpful.

My main concern is the CCTV coverage. Is it really monitored 24/7 by a dedicated team, or is it just footage for later investigation if something happens? In my current rented flat in Adigara Kallahalli, we had a package stolen, and when we checked, the cameras were just for show; no one was actively watching the feeds. How can we verify this for a new project like Prestige City before making such a huge investment? The brochure says '24/7 surveillance' but what does that truly mean on the ground?
Totally. It's a huge red flag if they can't confirm active monitoring. Passive cameras are only useful after the fact.
Sahi baat hai. I asked a builder once directly, and they just said 'footage is available'. Matlab, no live monitoring. Best bet is to talk to actual residents during off-hours, not during builder-arranged site visits, to get the real picture.
Yaar, Bangalore mein property prices upar jaa rahe hain, but security ka level is not always matching the premium. It's a real issue for peace of mind, especially with families.
Prestige City ka possession date kya hai? 2024-12-01 right? Aur iska RERA number PR/200821/004260 hai, sahi hai na? I'm trying to cross-check everything before even thinking about booking. If security is also a potential issue on top of possible construction delays, it's a huge concern for us first-time buyers.
Exactly! And for that price range (₹45 L – ₹1.6 Cr), you expect top-notch everything, not just on paper. My budget is more towards the lower end of that spectrum, so I'm extra cautious about every single detail.
Haan bhai, dates aur RERA number dono correct hain as per their filings. But 'ongoing' projects always carry a risk of delays, regardless of the builder's name.
Bhai, you hit the nail on the head. My cousin lives in a so-called 'premium' society near Akshayanagar, and their security is a complete joke. Delivery guys just walk in, no ID checks, sometimes even the security gate is open because the guard is on his phone. Once, a maid they fired tried to get back in easily because no one verified her. The CCTV is there, but who is watching it 24/7? It's more about having a fancy gate than actual vigilance. For ₹1.6 Cr in Prestige City, I'd expect Fort Knox level security, not just a show for visitors.
Totally agree with the original post! I've been eyeing Prestige City too and the brochure looks amazing, but my biggest fear is exactly this – security being just for show. Is it all just a facade? I visited a site in Aavalahalli last month, and the guards were just chatting amongst themselves, not even checking visitors properly. It makes you really nervous as a first-time buyer.
