First-time buyer in Bangalore: Where do I even begin?

Since January I've been shortlisting flats in Bangalore, and it's honestly overwhelming. Looking at places around Basaveshwaranagar or Deepanjali Nagar. Prestige Group has some projects, but I'm torn between a new launch vs resale. Is resale actually safer for a first-timer, or are new launches better for ROI? Also, how much extra should I budget beyond the quoted property price? Stamp duty, registration, interiors – I'm really not sure what to expect. Any advice on where to even start shortlisting properties effectively?
