Hidden charges buyers only discover after possession in Janakpuri

Janakpuri keeps coming up every time I shortlist something. Fed up of renting, I thought of finally buying a 2BHK there, around ₹1.2 Cr. But builders ki hidden charges ka kya scene hai yaar? One project quoted ₹5k maintenance, now I hear it's ₹10k post-OC. Is this normal? How do you guys deal with these surprises?
