Is Mullanpur Garibdass safe for families?

Honestly, I'm completely overwhelmed trying to figure out Mullanpur Garibdass. My parents keep saying it's too new, and I'm really worried about safety, especially at night. Also, what's the real food scene like there? Are there decent supermarkets and restaurants nearby, or will I be driving everywhere for everything? Not sure if it's the right move for my first property.
