Sector 46 has been okay since I moved in, but I'm really questioning the long-term vibe for families. Just rented a 2BHK here a few months ago and now looking to buy something around ₹1.5 Cr. What's the real ground reality for safety after dark, especially for women or if kids are out? I'm honestly not sure if it's as secure as it seems during the day. Also, how are the schools and hospitals nearby? Are there decent options within a reasonable drive, or is admission a huge struggle? Things nobody told me before moving! Want to make sure I'm not missing anything critical before committing to buying a 3BHK here.

It's a tough call, isn't it? On one hand, Sector 46 offers good connectivity and decent infrastructure. On the other, the growing population and commercialization are definitely putting pressure on resources like schools and open spaces. My advice would be to spend some evenings there, not just days. See how the vibe changes. For ₹1.5 Cr, you have options, but weigh the pros and cons of Mohali vs. perhaps even something slightly older but established in Chandigarh itself. What did you finally decide?
U5, still evaluating! No decision yet. Thanks for the advice.
I bought a 3BHK in Sector 46 two years ago for around ₹1.2 Cr. The appreciation has been good, but the initial post's concerns about safety are valid. Last month, there was a minor incident near the market after 9 PM. It's not alarming, but it makes you think. For ₹1.5 Cr, you might even find something good in Badshahpur if you're open to Gurugram, which has better job prospects.
U4, that's exactly what I'm worried about. These 'minor incidents' add up. My uncle lives in Basai, and he says even there, the general sense of community safety has gone down post-pandemic. For ₹1.5 Cr, in today's market, you might get a slightly smaller plot or an older construction in a more established area, but the peace of mind is worth it. Gurugram market is hot, so prices might be higher there.
Honestly, safety is subjective, but for schools, Sector 46 has some good options like Manav Rachna and DPS, but admission is a nightmare, especially for good ones. My cousin struggled a lot last year. Hospitals like Max and Fortis are close, but traffic can be a real pain during peak hours. The long-term vibe feels a bit commercializing, which might impact the quiet residential feel. Have you checked out properties near Airport Road in Mohali? Heard good things about amenities there.
U3, you're right about the traffic near Max and Fortis. It's a nightmare! And admission is a huge struggle. My friend had to pay a huge donation for her kid's admission in Manav Rachna. Airport Road properties are good, but they are further out and can be a bit isolated.
Bhai, Sector 46 is pretty decent. What's the fuss? Maybe you just had a bad experience. Schools and hospitals toh everywhere hain.
Totally get what you mean! I'm also looking in Mohali, and the safety after dark is a big concern for me, especially for my wife. ₹1.5 Cr is a good budget, but even then, finding something truly secure and well-connected feels like a task. Are you considering any other sectors or just 46?
U1, for ₹1.5 Cr, you can definitely look at other sectors. Try Sector 70 or 71, they are quieter.
U1, totally agree. I live near Baliawas in Gurugram, and even there, the safety at night is a concern, especially when kids are playing outside. For Mohali, I've heard similar things about Sector 46, it's not as secure as people assume. Maybe look at gated communities?
