posted on 9 MayJustifying premium for 3BHK upgrade, but water worries me
Budget finalized, loan pre-approved — now I'm stuck trying to justify the premium for a 3BHK upgrade. Everyone glorifies projects like Sobha Silicon Oasis for their clubhouses, but nobody talks about the actual water situation. Are we seriously paying crores just to be reliant on tankers during summer? It's a joke, yaar. Is reliable water supply an actual amenity or just a pipe dream in these places? Change my mind.

This isn't just a Sobha problem, it's a Bengaluru problem. Every other project, especially the big ones, faces water scarcity when summer hits. The demand for water is just too high. Paying 2-4 Cr for a flat and then worrying about water is ridiculous, but that's the reality of the current market.
Look, I almost bought into a project in Akshayanagar last year, builder promised excellent borewell water and rainwater harvesting. Fast forward, and people there are struggling. Tankers are a monthly expense, sometimes weekly. Don't just trust the sales pitch. My friend in Adigara Kallahalli also faces this. Check if they have BWSSB connection or just depend on borewells/tankers. The premium for 3BHK is not just about space, it's about livability, and water is a huge part of that.
Bhai, Sobha Silicon Oasis is completed, possession was back in 2019. Total 909 units. That's a lot of families for one complex. For a price range of ₹2.0 Cr – ₹4.3 Cr, you expect proper infrastructure. Has anyone living there actually faced severe water issues recently? Like, really bad, not just a few hours here and there?
Sobha Silicon Oasis ka RERA kya hai? Maybe check their disclosures for water sources.
Haan, my cousin lives in a similar large project nearby, not Sobha, but close to Aavalahalli. They do face tanker dependency in peak summer. It's not constant, but it's a real worry. Sometimes the borewell dries up completely.
Totally feel you! My biggest fear for any new property is water. What's the point of a fancy clubhouse if you're rationing water for basic needs? This is Bengaluru, not some desert town. Builders need to be more transparent about this.
But then what's the alternative? Renting forever? We just have to be extra diligent during site visits. Talk to current residents, not just the sales team. Ask about water bills and tanker frequency.
Exactly! What's the point of a swimming pool if you can't even shower properly? Frustrating.
