posted on 9 MayOuter Ring Road pe rehna: my reality check
Honestly, I thought living near Outer Ring Road would be super convenient for office. But yaar, daily commute is something else. It takes forever to cover short distances, especially around Marathahalli. I had no idea the traffic could be this bad. Is this normal for everyone? Any tips for surviving ORR traffic?

It's a tricky situation. On one hand, living near ORR means proximity to major companies and potentially good rental yield if you're looking for investment later. On the other hand, the daily grind is real. I guess it boils down to what you prioritize: commute time vs. property appreciation potential. What are people doing to cope? Are there any carpooling apps or specific routes that help?
U11, WFH is slowly phasing out for many companies, including mine. We have a hybrid model now, 3 days from office. So, the traffic issue is back with a vengeance. Some people try to leave super early or super late, but that just shifts the problem. Maybe cycling is an option for shorter distances, but then again, Bengaluru roads are not exactly cyclist-friendly.
Good question! What about WFH option, does your company still support it? That's the only way I see surviving ORR.
This isn't just anecdotal, guys. Bengaluru has been consistently ranking among the top cities globally for traffic congestion. The ORR stretch, especially between Silk Board and KR Puram, is the absolute worst. Peak hours are a myth now; it's a continuous crawl. Developers are still building projects here, but the infrastructure hasn't caught up. It's a classic supply-demand mismatch for roads, not just housing. Prices are still high because of the IT corridor, but quality of life is severely impacted.
True, but sometimes the price difference between ORR and other areas is just too much to ignore for first-time buyers. What are the alternatives? If you want to be near the tech hubs, you either pay a bomb in central areas or live with ORR traffic. It's a tough choice for budget-conscious people like us.
Yeah, exactly! It's like paying a premium to sit in traffic. My friend lives in Adigara Kallahalli and takes a bike, but even that's a struggle. You just have to factor in the commute time as part of your workday now.
Totally relate to this! We bought a 2BHK in Aavalahalli two years ago, thinking it's a bit further but well-connected. Little did we know, the connectivity is only on paper. The last-mile connectivity from the main ORR is terrible, and the inner roads are even worse. The builder promised metro connectivity soon, but abhi tak toh koi sign nahi hai. My office is near EcoWorld, and I spend almost 2.5 hours daily just commuting. It's exhausting, and I feel like I made a huge mistake with my first home purchase.
U5, Greenwood Enclave is actually decent, I've heard. U4 might be talking about a different one. But Aavalahalli in general is struggling with infrastructure. My tip: try to find a place that's walkable to your office or near a metro station. Otherwise, ORR will eat your soul. Been there, done that.
Oh no, Aavalahalli? I was eyeing a property there too, from that new project 'Greenwood Enclave'. Is that the one you're talking about? How's the builder's reputation otherwise? And is it still that bad with the traffic around that area?
Same pinch, yaar! I was about to book a flat in a project near Panathur, thinking it's a smart investment with all the tech parks around. But after reading your post and seeing the traffic myself last week, I'm seriously reconsidering. Is this just peak hour madness or all-day chaos? It's making me so nervous about my decision.
U2, unfortunately, it's not just peak hour anymore. ORR pe traffic ab toh subah 8 baje se raat ke 9 baje tak rehta hai, especially around Marathahalli, Bellandur, Silk Board. It's the new normal for Bengaluru. Meri ek friend Agrahara Layout mein rehti hai, she leaves home at 7 AM to reach office by 9 AM, which is barely 10 km away. It's a nightmare, no sugarcoating it.
Bhai, this is my reality too! I just moved to a flat near Kadubeesanahalli thinking it's just 3-4 km from my office in Bellandur. That 3-4 km takes me 45 minutes minimum every single day. Weekends are fine, but weekdays? Pure torture. You're definitely not alone in this.
