Prestige City, Whitefield — I'm looking at a 3BHK there, upgrading from my current 2BHK. Builders always promise 100% power backup, but is it really for the whole flat? My current place only covers common areas. EMI itni zyada hogi, toh agar AC/geyser nahi chale during cuts, kya fayda? Owners, actual experience kya hai?

My cousin recently bought a flat in Akshayanagar, and even there, the builder initially promised the moon regarding power backup. After moving in, it was a nightmare. They had to get an inverter for their AC separately. The market conditions in Bengaluru are so competitive right now, builders are pushing sales hard, and sometimes these details get glossed over. Always check the fine print and talk to residents of their previous projects if possible. ₹45 L – ₹1.6 Cr is a huge range, but even at the lower end, you expect decent backup.
Haha, 'inverter for AC separately' – that's the real Bangalore dream, isn't it? 😂 So much for 'premium living'. It's
This is such a critical question! I was also wondering about this. Thanks for bringing it up. My budget is tight, so every detail matters.
So, if it's not full backup, what *exactly* do they provide? Prestige City owners, can you confirm if at least the geyser and fridge run on backup? Because that's a basic necessity, not a luxury, especially for families.
You're right to ask. Don't rely on verbal promises. My friend booked in another big project and faced similar issues. They eventually found out the 'backup' was only for 1kW per flat, which barely covers a fridge and a couple of lights. With EMIs for Prestige City touching ₹1.6 Cr for a 3BHK, you cannot afford to have such basic amenities missing. Get it in writing, specifically what appliances are covered and for how many hours.
The project is still ONGOING, possession is Dec 2024. So current owners won't have actual experience yet. But usually, it's just basic lighting and a few points. For Prestige City, with 3000 units, full backup for AC/geyser would need a massive setup. Have you checked their RERA docs (PR/200821/004260) for backup specifications?
Bhai, Prestige City mein 100% backup? Woh toh sirf paper pe hota hai. Mera current builder bhi yahi bolta tha, AC chalana toh door ki baat, fridge bhi struggle karta hai. Bahut tension hoti hai.
Exactly! I live in a Prestige project near Aavalahalli, not City, but same story. Power cut hua toh AC bhool jao. Geyser bhi nahi chalta. Sirf lights, fans aur TV chalte hain. It's frustrating when you pay so much and still have to worry about power. They should be transparent about what '100% backup' truly covers, especially for high EMIs.
Totally agree! Builders ka yeh standard line hai. They mean 'common area' backup and maybe one light/fan point per room. Actual flat ka full backup for heavy appliances is a myth for most projects, especially in this price range. Hum first-time buyers ko bewakoof banate hain.
