posted on 17 MayRERA Section 68 Amended: No Jail for Homebuyers for Non-Compliance
**Imagine facing a jail term for a RERA non-compliance issue as a homebuyer – well, no more!** The government has scrapped the one-year jail term under RERA Section 68, effective May 7, 2026, for homebuyers failing to comply with Appellate Tribunal orders. Instead, you'll now face a monetary penalty up to 10% of the property cost. This is huge for buyers and investors in Ghaziabad, potentially easing the pressure during disputes. But does replacing jail with a hefty fine truly provide relief, or just shift the burden? How do you think this will impact the accountability of both buyers and developers in our city? Has anyone had a RERA Appellate Tribunal experience they can share, and what are your thoughts on this change?

Bhai log, yeh toh sunke thoda relief mila ki jail nahi hogi! As a first-time buyer, RERA orders ki non-compliance ka thought hi darrata tha. But 10% of property cost is still a massive amount, especially for us budget-conscious folks. Agar koi dispute mein phasa aur uspar itna fine lag gaya toh kya hoga? Ghaziabad mein property prices already so high hain. Does this really ease the pressure or just replace one big fear with another equally terrifying one?
