Just moved into Saini Bhawan. Builder promised full flat power backup, but it's only for common areas. Is this normal in Chandigarh? What's your society's actual backup?

It's a tough situation, U1. While it's common for builders to provide backup only for essential services, explicitly promising full flat backup and not delivering is wrong. What are your next steps? Have you formed a residents' association to collectively address this?
This sounds like a clear case of misrepresentation. If it was explicitly promised in writing or even verbally with witnesses, you might have grounds to approach the RERA authority. Many first-time buyers get caught in these traps, so always insist on everything in black and white, especially for amenities like power backup, parking, and maintenance charges. Don't let them get away with it.
Saini Bhawan ka track record waise bhi mixed suna hai. Builder ko direct approach kiya kya?
This is a classic bait-and-switch, unfortunately. When I was looking for a flat in New Chandigarh last year, I specifically asked about power backup. Most builders clearly stated it's for common areas and one light/fan point per room. Saini Bhawan's promise was definitely misleading if it's not documented. You should check the RERA registration details; sometimes they mention such amenities there.
U5, usually it's around 2-4 hours for essential points, not full flat. My society in Manimajra gives 3 hours for one light and one fan in living and master bedroom. Saini Bhawan's price range (₹50 L – ₹8.0 Cr) should ideally offer something better, but this is the harsh reality of many projects in Chandigarh's current market conditions.
Builders ki toh yahi kahani hai. Promises bade bade, delivery zero.
Exactly! RERA documents are key, but even then, sometimes the ground reality is different. What's your society's actual backup capacity, jaise U4 ne bataya? Kitne hours ka backup milta hai?
Yaar, just moved into Saini Bhawan aur builder ne toh poora scam kar diya. Bola tha full flat power backup milega, par bas common areas mein hi hai. Is this even legal? Chandigarh mein sab societies mein aisa hi hota hai kya? Bahut tension ho rahi hai.
Oh no, that's really bad. Did you check your agreement copy? Often they write 'partial backup' or 'essential services' in the fine print. ₹50 L se ₹8.0 Cr ke project mein toh full backup expect karte hain, yaar.
Totally feel you, bhai. Builders ki yahi problem hai. Mere friend ke saath bhi Mullanpur Garibdass mein same hua tha.
