posted on 11 MayShalimar Bagh: Is the family-friendly vibe real?
Shalimar Bagh feels like a solid choice for families, but I need to confirm that vibe before we commit. We're a family of four, looking for a 3BHK, and my wife's priority is genuinely good schools for our kids. Are the local schools really up to mark, especially for admissions? Honestly, my biggest concern after that is safety for the children. Is it safe for kids to play outside in the evenings? What's the actual day-to-day living experience here? Is the neighborhood peaceful enough for a growing family, or does it get too noisy? We're eyeing a 3BHK around ₹2 Cr. Any real resident insights on the community feel and safety aspects would be super helpful.

Safety-wise, Shalimar Bagh is quite good. We moved from Aram Bagh two years ago and the difference is huge. Kids are safe playing outside till late evening in designated parks. The community feeling is strong, lots of festivals and events, people know each other. The only thing is, some main roads can get noisy, but inside the blocks, it's generally peaceful. For a 3BHK, 2 Cr might be a stretch for newer constructions, but resale mein mil sakta hai if you are flexible with the block and amenities. Just be thorough with your due diligence.
Schools are good, agree with U3's point. But the older blocks can have infrastructure issues, especially water supply. My friend faced a lot of problems in a 3BHK near the market area, had to install a booster pump and everything. Have you checked the specific block you're interested in, ya fir building ki age kya hai?
My uncle lives in Shalimar Bagh, and he said the same about water pressure in some of the older buildings. But newer ones don't seem to have this problem. So, property age is crucial here.
Yeah, in older areas like some parts of Anand Vihar too, ye problem aati hai. Builder ne maintenance ka dhyaan nahi rakha toh dikkat hoti hai. Always check the society's RWA for these details.
Oh really? Water issue is a big deal, thanks for the heads up! Definitely something to check during site visits.
Shalimar Bagh is genuinely family-friendly, trust me! My kids go to DPS and Springdales nearby, aur admissions tough hain but possible with proper planning and a bit of luck. Safety is top-notch, bachche sham ko colony parks mein khelte hain, no issues at all. It's peaceful, except for a bit of traffic during peak hours near the main market. You'll love the vibe, it's very community-oriented. Neighbors are supportive, and there are always local events happening.
2 Cr for a 3BHK in Shalimar Bagh? Thoda tight budget lag raha hai, especially agar achhe society mein chahiye. Recent property rates toh kaafi upar chale gaye hain, you might have to compromise on size or age of the building. Have you checked other options around that price point, maybe a bit further out?
Depends on the block, yaar. Some older constructions mil jaate hain around that, but then renovation ka kharcha alag se. New projects toh 2.5 Cr+ jaa rahe hain easily, even more if it's a prime location.
Haan bhai, exactly! ₹2 Cr mein ab mushkil hai, especially for a good 3BHK in a decent complex. Builder ne rates bahut badha diye hain.
