Since last Diwali, we've been hunting for a 3BHK near central Pune. Shukrawar Peth looks promising location-wise, but I'm honestly not sure about day-to-day life there with a family. We went to see a flat last week, and the narrow lanes felt really chaotic, especially with parking. My wife's main concern is if it's actually safe for the children to play outside or if evenings get too crowded. Is the vibe generally peaceful or too noisy? How do people manage parking daily? Any parents living there can share their experience?

It all boils down to what your priorities are. If proximity to central Pune, the old-world charm, and easy access to local markets are higher on your list, then Shukrawar Peth might still work. But if open spaces for kids, dedicated parking, and a quieter environment are non-negotiable, then you might have to look further out, like towards Akurdi or even beyond. There's no perfect solution in Pune, especially for a budget-conscious first-time buyer. What's your top-most priority besides the 3BHK requirement?
OP, aapne jo flat dekha tha, woh kis specific area mein tha Shukrawar Peth ke? Aur builder kaun tha? Kabhi-kabhi specific streets mein thoda kam chaos hota hai.
I actually grew up in Shukrawar Peth, and my parents still live there in an ancestral home. So I can give you a perspective. Yes, it's chaotic, especially during peak hours and festivals. Parking is a nightmare, no sugarcoating that. But the sense of community is amazing, everyone knows everyone, and there's a certain safety in that familiarity. For kids, yes, playing outside on the street is not ideal. But many old wadas have internal courtyards, or if you're in a society, they usually have small common spaces. Plus, all essential services are literally a stone's throw away. It's a trade-off, either you get the convenience and community, or the space and peace. You can't have both in central Pune at a reasonable price.
Main bhi same situation mein tha last year. Shukrawar Peth ki connectivity aur old Pune ka charm attract karta hai, but the practicalities for a family are tough. We finally decided against it. Instead, we started looking towards areas like Ambegaon or even towards Sinhagad Road. Thoda outer hai, but you get wider roads, better parking options, and more open spaces for kids. Plus, the property rates are comparatively better for the kind of space you get. Have you explored those options?
Ambegaon mein good schools aur hospitals easily accessible hain kya? Aur daily commute ke liye traffic ka kya haal rehta hai from there to central Pune?
Ambegaon mein 3BHK agar aap naye projects mein dekhte ho toh 1.1 - 1.3 Cr ke around mil jayega, depending on the builder and amenities. Connectivity bhi kaafi improve ho gayi hai with the new bypass roads. Plus, you get proper society living with amenities like parks and play areas, which is a huge plus for families. Shukrawar Peth mein toh that's a luxury. Current market conditions mein Ambegaon mein appreciation potential bhi acha hai because of ongoing infrastructure development.
Ambegaon mein rates kaise chal rahe hain abhi? Shukrawar Peth mein toh 3BHK ke liye 1.5 Cr+ bol rahe hain, woh bhi 10-15 saal purane building mein. Ambegaon mein naye projects mein kuch better deal mil sakti hai kya?
Yaar, I totally get what you're saying. We also checked out a few 3BHks in Shukrawar Peth a few months back. Location-wise, it's prime, no doubt, especially for connectivity to FC Road and Swargate. But the narrow lanes and the sheer number of vehicles, especially two-wheelers, is just something else. Parking was a nightmare even during the day. My biggest fear is also for kids, unko khelne ke liye space kahan milega? Har jagah gaadiyaan hi gaadiyaan.
Exactly! And the noise levels? Shaam ko toh lagta hai poora sheher wahin aa gaya hai. Kids ke liye peaceful environment bahut important hota hai, aur wahan toh har time honking aur shopkeepers ki awaaz aati rehti hai. Family ke saath rehna thoda difficult ho sakta hai, I agree with OP.
Sahi kaha bhai, parking toh ek major headache hai wahan. Builder bolte hain 'stilt parking available', but woh bhi itni congested hoti hai ki car nikalna aur daalna ek task ban jaata hai daily. We saw one flat jisme parking ke liye literally ladai ho rahi thi tenants ki.
