Things nobody prepared me for as an NRI investor
Legal clarity for NRIs buying property in Chandigarh is proving tougher than I thought. I'm based in Dubai and initially considered a 3BHK for investment, maybe in Mohali's Sector 69 or New Chandigarh, aiming for long-term appreciation. My budget was around ₹1.5Cr. I looked at a Sushma Buildtech project, but honestly, buying without physically being there feels really complex. The Power of Attorney process seems daunting, and I can't do a site inspection myself easily. I'm also really concerned about rental management. How do you guys handle tenants and property maintenance from abroad? I've heard mixed things about rental yields, especially in areas like Zirakpur. Is finding a reliable property manager for an apartment from, say, Godrej Properties, actually feasible? Or should I just stick to ready-to-move options to minimize management headaches? Any recommendations for trustworthy property management services for NRIs in Chandigarh would be appreciated.
